Objective: To equip the participants with skills to draft an Albay 2050 working document
Participants: 60 Department Heads of the Province of Albay
Pre-Workshop Assignment:
Each office is to form a team of 4-6 members to develop Success and Fail scenarios of their offices/sectors in Albay 2050. These scenarios should be submitted as 6-minute recorded videos along with a 5-slide presentation. This exercise will help warm up the participants and provide a starting point for the workshop discussions.
Guide questions to stimulate discussion on the determinants of outcomes in an Albay 2050 scenarios workshop:
What sectoral outcomes do your office focus on? What factors in the environment influence these outcomes? (ex.technology, climate, capital, etc)
Future Scenarios: What are the possible future scenarios for your sector in Albay in 2050? How do these scenarios differ based on various social, economic, and environmental factors?
Driving Forces: What are the driving forces that will shape Albay’s future? How might changes in these forces create different outcomes?
Influence and Control: Which of these driving forces can we influence, and which are beyond our control? How can we best respond to those forces we cannot control?
Implications: What are the implications of each scenario for the people of Albay? How might different sectors (e.g., agriculture, tourism, education) be affected?
Resilience and Adaptation: How can we build resilience and adaptability into our strategies to ensure Albay thrives no matter what the future holds?
Collaboration: How can we foster collaboration among different stakeholders (e.g., government, businesses, community groups) to work towards our desired future?
These questions aim to encourage participants to think deeply about the future, consider a range of possibilities, and make strategic choices that lead to a desirable outcome for Albay in 2050. They are designed to be thought-provoking and stimulate rich discussion.
